About CIMA

The CIMA program covers investment theory, investment policy, asset allocation, international financial markets and diversification, risk management, performance measurement and attribution, legal and regulatory environment, ethics, due diligence and manager selection, and investment management.

The CIMA program offers a number of advantages over other educational courses for investment analysts including: 

The qualification can be achieved in less than one year, and is internationally recognised
- It is not a self-regulated distance education program
The residential course provides direct interaction with lecturers and peers from within the local financial services industry

The CIMA program is presented in three components:

Qualification: Independent study program
This self paced program is provided on-line and requires extensive preliminary reading, completing topic quizzes, and test exams in preparation for a multiple choice question exam. Participants need to make a serious commitment of at least 3 months before the qualification. 

Education: Intensive residential course (5 days)
Each day offers a series of seminars and presentations from industry leaders and academics. The Program brings together key theoretical and prectical kjnowledge directly relevant to the roles of investment consultants, researchers and investment specialists.

Certification: A four hour exam with 100 multiple choice questions is conducted at IMCA-approved testing centres following a candidates successful completion of the Education program.

Who is the CIMA program for?

The CIMA program has been specifically designed for investment consultants and researchers. However, the content of the CIMA program is also valuable to anyone working in the institutional and retail markets, especially management, supervision and marketing.

To enrol you need to have three years of investment experience (with at least 50% of your time spent on areas related to investment research, consulting or investment processes).
